Ooh, Pretty!

My secret pal manxomeKal sent me this:
A very cool project bag, completely lined.
full of Reese's hearts,
A giant cup and saucer, to drink some nice strong Sumatran coffee, some beautiful stitch markers (my knitting wears more jewelry than I do!),
Jitterbug sock yarn, which I've never used before,

and some chunky Manos de Uruguay in a colors that remind me of water.

There are also some bite sized Heath bars, which I've stuck in the freezer, hiding from everyone else!

Thank you! The yarn is pettable, the coffee will be strong, and I can hide inside and not freeze quite happily. :)

Surprises!

I've had a few surprises the last couple of days. First, when soccer starts in March, you don't expect to go to a game and come home with striped feet. It was at least 80 F out there. (Today, it was a record: it reached 82.) GameBoy's team defeated this team too--8-0. Second, when you have a dermatologist's appointment the next day, you don't expect him to be nonchalant about said sunburn. Basically, he said that I'm so fair, I'm going to burn. I'm currently skin cancer free, but most likely I'll have a recurrence or two (or ten). Growing up in Kansas was not good for my skin.

Another surprise is how straight A's are celebrated at GameBoy's and The Wiz's school. GameBoy was able to have the straight A's lunch (complete with medium frosty) and they gave each kid a bag of loot: a miniature light saber, a baton, a cup, and other things that I can't remember at the moment.

And finally, I received a surprise from my SP. I think that she's from the West Coast, but I am not convinced that I know where. She sent me a great package, too. Of course, there was yarn:

The Wiz saw the box, and decided that this yarn is for him. He likes the colors. If there's enough left over, I might make him a pair from the left overs.

She also sent me wonderful gardening gloves (goatskin, which make the best gloves for gardening in my experience) and flower seeds (hollyhocks, columbine, and Canterbury bells). Maybe we'll be able to plant flowers this weekend.

And finally, a really great t-shirt. Do you think it's me?

Secret Pal Package

My Knitty Secret Pal sent me a package! It came yesterday, but yesterday was my early day for teaching, so I wasn't home. This morning, I schlepped over to the pick up stuff post office (we have two, you see). Any day this week is a good time for some sunshine--lots of the not fun memories from the week L was born are popping into my brain. Someday, I'll have to write about it, but not this year! It also doesn't help that I seem to have caught L's virus. If I didn't have to teach today, I'd be curled up in bed.

Anyway, my most generous Secret Pal (she's the one that bought half of the yarn from last week) sent me a lovely package full of yarn and knitting notions. She also sent stickers for the boys, who will be very pleased AND some beautiful dried flower notecards. I feel so spoiled! The cream, tan, and blue yarn seems to be telling me that they are going to be socks for B. The blues are definitely for me.

Now all I have to do is finish a couple of things--such as B's sweater, the knee socks (which are now ready for the heels!), the other socks for me, M's sweater (which is still just yarn), and...
Thanks, SP!
