Wiz's pumpkin had 4 faces, but they were hard to capture

Dynamite!
This year's skull meatloaf, a cheerful fellow.
Game Boy's cape, with the hood he added.
I need to write a real post. The boys are busy with music and sports. We're busy with life, the universe, and everything, and together we wind up with a crazy schedule. Now that winter's on the way, I might actually write more.
It's that time of year. Time for spooky-ish meatloaf
Bunnicula or a vampire bunny, woo!
and making Halloween costumes. Game Boy wanted a cloak, I had no pattern. Somehow we achieved a facsimile of a cloak. Not too shabby for pulling it out of the air.
I know, I'm boring lately. I've knitted a bit (shh, it's Christmas ornaments, but no one wants to talk about that!), and I've been running (not this week though), but can't seem to get my act together to write in the blog. I'm trying to, however.
Valentine's isn't my favorite holiday most years, and this year it's even more so. I'm not feeling all that celebratory this year. Last week was really busy, Friday's the Wiz's birthday and we're still in waiting mode. The boys received chocolate from G&G, and all three of the males in my life gave me chocolate. I made them meatloaf. (See above picture--they thought it was funny.)
But I do love secret pal sorts of things, and Valentine's is a great excuse for one of those. My secret pal was sent gifts in those bags that I made last week (yarn, cocoa and candy, natch!), and yesterday I came home from my meeting in Spokane to a package from my spoiler, Sandykins.
She sent me two knitted gifts: an illusion heart washcloth made of the softest yarnsoap in a knitted cover that will felt as I use the soap (the soap smells really nice, too).Of course, it's a knitty swap, so there will always be unknitted yarn too. Sandykins sent me a stranded mitten kit from Sweden (the instructions are in 4 languages, none of them English. However, one is German, so I have a chance to translate it. ) in grey and white. I love knitting mittens and socks. Almost everyone needs them, and they are pretty fast. This pair will be beautiful when I am finished.
Thanks again, Sandykins! I haven't sampled the chocolate, but it is hidden from the horde. It made my weekend.
and I have more pictures. Right now, weekdays are really busy. I haven't felt like blogging because I'm tired of doing anything much on the computer. We had our usual skull shaped meatloaf--later than usual but we had it.
We had the first Saturday in forever when we didn't have any place we needed to be. So we went to Rook's park. We saw a Great Blue Heron, who seemed to like to pose. Wiz wasn't actually annoyed at this point. Maybe he was--I had just told him that it wasn't bamboo, but horsetails on the bank. Here are all three of the guys. And here are the Blues, from town. That is snow up there. It seems to fall, then it melts, and it comes back. I don't mind the snow--if it's up there.
Meatloaf, again. (This ground beef seemed fattier than usual, so the pre-cooked picture is better.) Both the boys love legos, so, what better kind of meatloaf than a lego brick? I finished a present for my niece K. Poor K. I sent two sets of fingerless mittens to her house, for her sister. Well, one pair wound up her brother's so she was left out. This pair is just for her. The picture doesn't show it, but there's a slightly sparkly thread in the yarn, so I think that they are perfect for her.
This morning I started another ornament. I think if I can make at least one a week, I should be doing all right by Christmas. They don't take long, but I really want shorter needles.
Time to fold the laundry. I won't have time later this week.
You pick which is which.Christmas stockings: a wedding gift and samples for the class I am supposed to teach.Oak leaf shaped meatloaf, because Wiz has decided it's fall, even though we're still hitting the upper 80s and lower 90s. (In his defense, it is chilly when we are walking to school.)A jack-o-lantern dishcloth, washed and ready to use.A skull and cross bones dishcloth, knit on talk like a pirate day. Aaaaarrrr!
I've also picked up a temporary part time job, logged 125 miles this month (I've been busy, and sick) and have about an hour or more of homework help/supervision for the Wiz.
One of the souvenirs that we sold at the race were these cowbells. Isn't it great? This is the magnolia tree in front of church on Sunday. Our boys (and an extra) all were climbing in it. Finally, we had meatloaf last night for dinner. It was supposed to be a flower, but the boys insist it is a starfish. Either way, it was good, because it had more edge on each piece. There wasn't much left.Today I had my bicycle readjusted. The handlebars were too low for me and were causing me pain. After it was adjusted, I went out on the 5 mile route and conquered the hill. Hooray for me! I was also a lot faster today. I upped my speed on that route by 3.6 mph. Amazing how well I can do when I am not fighting the bike.
Monday was a pretty nice day. There was some sunshine, and then there was both. So we had a rainbow. (I know, the pics aren't the best, but they are pretty nice.) So it was quite appropriate we had a pot of gold meatloaf! (It was a really good meatloaf, too.)
Here's something that I haven't posted for awhile:We had meatloaf tonight. The boys ate pretty much all of it. (If you can't tell what it is, it's supposed to be a hot air balloon. )
This is a picture from the (hopefully) new house. I fell in love with this kitchen. How cool is that oven? It works, and it's very retro. Actually, it's old. But who cares? It's cool! I love it.I'll post another picture of a different room, later.
I'm behind. Here's a photo collection for our preparations to Christmas.
A stocking meatloaf A Christmas treeFour finished pairs of socks. From left to right: The Wiz's socks, Game Boy's Socks, Eleanor Socks for MIL, and FIL's socks. I didn't finish the Collar's.
Cloth gift bags, since I'm tired of cutting down trees. (Well, not personally.)
********* To those who like my Swiffer covers: I'm working on a third one. I have discovered that they do indeed work. : ) Next week, I'll type up the pattern(s) and post it. Theoretically, I'll have more time.
First of all, guess what made a reappearance yesterday? I'll give you a hint: we had it for dinner. Second, the garden is growing and growing. Here is the proof:Today we were busy. The boys and I needed new flipflops, we needed to get rid of the recycling, I've weeded one flower bed, we needed groceries, we went to the bank, and we cleaned one corner of the play room. There's another flower bed to weed and the rest of the play room, but it's getting there. We are using this as a way to purge some stuff. I try to do it every three years, whether we are moving or not! (We'll probablybe moving in the next year at some point, but why wait until I know?) Tomorrow's also going to be busy, but in a good way, I believe. Happy July!
